Psychotherapy for the Treatment of Trauma, Hypnotherapy and Addictions counseling

Using a combination of methods, Coral helps individuals to become more self-aware, resolve past conflicts and move forward in their lives to achieve healing and lasting well-being. The methods they use include:

Psychodynamic Therapy – a therapy that increases self awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on current behavior.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) – a powerful therapy that is proven to be effective in the treatment of trauma. Through this approach, clients reprocess trauma and can recollect experiences in a new and less distressing way. EMDR is also highly effective in treating other conditions including panic disorders, addictions, phobias, performance anxiety and stress. Coral is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an EMDRIA consultant and approved consultant for the Parnell Institute.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) – a body-awareness approach to trauma, based on the understanding that human beings have an innate ability to overcome the effects of trauma. Having completed the 3-year Somatic Experiencing training, Coral has obtained a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) certificate and is a faculty assistant for SE trainings.

Substance Abuse Counseling – An abstinence-based approach for various stages of recovery. Note: This method can include short-term couples/family therapy for individuals living with a spouse, significant other, family member or friend.  Coral is versed in the 12-Step Recovery model.

Hypnotherapy – A guided mind-body intervention that creates access to unconscious healing processes. Coral is certified in clinical hypnosis.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (D.B.T.) – Individual and group therapy based on D.B.T. life skills modules including: core mindfulness skills; interpersonal effectiveness skills; emotion regulation skills; and distress tolerance skills. By building these skills, individuals can improve relationships; decrease stress; reduce symptoms related to depression and anxiety; and achieve emotional balance.

Special Populations – Coral’s practice is LGBTQIA+, friendly. They embrace all clients who are defining their relationship orientation, gender or sexuality outside of historically traditional societal norms.

Coral integrates an interest in movement, music and creative art forms in the psychotherapy process. Their approach emphasizes compassion, creativity and self-determination.
